How do you capture the attention of jaded New Yorkers and remind them that HIV/AIDS remains a HUGE problem? With huge condoms, naturally. Twitter loved it!
FREE CONDOMS were handed out with cards that contained facts about HIV/AIDS and instructions on how to send a tweet to enable an automated donation to an HIV/AIDS charity. The impact was big.
For World AIDS Day 2016, we dispatched a team dressed in giant condom and condom wrapper costumes to various locations around NYC. This Giant Condom Flash Mob handed out thousands of free condoms and facts about HIV, asking passers-by to send tweets about the event to help raise funds for HIV/AIDS-related charities. A video crew also interviewed pedestrians, who more often than not were surprised to learn what a BIG problem HIV remains: 40,000 new people are still infected every year in the US alone, and 2 million worldwide.
